Mangaweka Adventure Company is an adventure company based in the lower North Island of New Zealand in Mangaweka. Mangaweka Adventure Company offer rafting & kayaking from 1 hour to 4 days. All of the trips are run on the Rangitikei River, a river of unspoilt beauty and power.

Rafting

The upper Rangitikei gorges provide the most exciting Grade 5 whitewater adventure in the North Island. Whether it is a fun family day out or an outing for your social club or conference group, Mangweka Adventure Company have a range of products to suit your needs.

Fun rafting includes a one hour tour, Papa Gorge. Alternatively, there is the Eco trips such as the half day tour, Sandstone Gorge or full day trips that pass beautiful waterfalls, mystical boulders or the filming area for Lord of the Rings. These trips can also be carried on overnight for a truly kiwi camping experience.

Many of Mangaweka Adventure Company tours are ideal for families, school groups and clubs or organisations where not all members want the full Grade 5 Whitewater Rafting experience. They are great value for money and can be very flexible as to what time your group wishes to depart.

Kayaking

The water features are challenging yet safe and are an ideal training ground for multisport events, and a good starting point in your future as a whitewater paddler.

Mangaweka Adventure Co offers instruction on these stretches throughout the summer and offer a certificate of competency in Grade 2 skills, accepted by the Speight's Coast to Coast.

Our instruction is delivered and practiced in whitewater kayaks, plastic boats designed for advanced whitewater application. This is the ideal start to running rivers as it gets the paddler more involved in the dynamics of the rivers currents (and allows for more mistakes without any expensive breakages). All equipment can be provided for these courses, boat and spraydeck hire are incorporated into the cost of the course, but as many participants have their own PFD’s, helmets and splashjackets we have some for hire if you forget yours or don’t yet own any.

Multi Day

Mangaweka Adventure Company and the Rangitikei River provide the ultimate camping getaways, either overnight or for 4 days. The four middle Gorges of the Rangitikei are a world away and some of the deepest in New Zealand, the best of them are only accessible by raft or kayak. Raft through majestic river gorges and camp deep in the heart of sandstone bedrock.

Heaps of fun Grade 2 rapids keep this safe adventure interesting and the choice of river craft makes it enjoyable for everyone. Or add a thrill with Grade 5 action combined with riverside camping.

Rangitikei River Adventures started in 1981, a family adventure business. Paul and Tricia changed the name, Mangaweka Adventure Company (MAC) over 7 years ago. No matter what you call it, it is an established and professional tourism operation in the Rangitikei Region.
