Ludbrook House was built on the family farm Tupe Tupe. This farm has been held for five generations by the Ludbrook family. The rich history of Tupe Tupe extends as far back as pre European occupation with visual archeological evidence of early Maori habitation. On the southern boundary a beautifully formed stone was built by foot soldiers before the battle of Ohaeawai in 1845.
You can enjoy the opportunity to muster stock, drench the sheep, or visit the local livestock sales with Roger Ludbrook, farm manager. Roger has a wealth of knowledge on farming in New Zealand and is willing to share his knowledge and explain the issues of modern farming.
The Tupe Tupe stream has a wonderful waterfall to explore and beyond to ponds where you can observe water birds.
Sam and Chris Ludbrook are proprietors of Ludbrook House, exclusive accommodation. Ludbrook House is built around an impressive central staircase. A contemporary art collection is tastefully displayed throughout the house.
You can relax in the 'afternoon' room with fireplace and library or take in the vista of the garden featuring lush sub tropical growth. Upstairs features double and twin rooms each decorated in soft pastels flooded with light, serviced with private bathrooms, and featuring panoramic vistas of the farm.
Ludbrook House Fine Foods features a range of 34 handmade gourmet food products. The orchard at Ludbrook House supplies the bulk of the figs and limes that are utilised in the on-site commercially registered kitchen. The cottage garden provides fresh vegetables and herbs to complement your dining experience.
