Fishing in Akaroa is all year round.
Summer weather traditionally means that seldom are there two consecutive days when you are unable to get out, so we advise you to stay over to maximize your potential fishing time. The best catching times in summer are early morning or twilight.

During the winter, the weather can be more dramatic, but often provides some of the best fishing weather and catches. The best catching times are throughout the day.

We bottom-fish for blue cod, red cod, trumpeter, sea perch, terakihi, gurnard and kahawai. Catches of salmon, shark and king fish have been made on occasion.

Bring your own food, drink and warm clothing. Don’t forget the camera and a smile. Rods, tackle and bait are supplied by us.

Dive Charters:

Scuba dive for crayfish, moki and butterfish.

Snorkel for paua.

You can join an existing fishing trip or get some friends together to book the boat.

If you have your own gear we can put you in the best spots. Hire gear is available from Christchurch Dive shops’.

Trips take 2.5 to 4 hours.
